A friend of mine bought the Hercules Game Theatre 6.1 sound card not long ago for his system I helped him with, which happens to have sat at my home for the past 3 months without once being in his home. Anyways, its a kickass system I helped him get for cheap. Now, I must say that this sound card has to have some relationship with the XBox. Why? Well, you can't tell from the picture they have on that site, but the cable that goes from the sound card to the external box (which is very nice, by the way) is about 3/4" in diameter. When I first saw the cable, I was shocked and amazed. Hell, I still am. That cable is H U G E ! I mean, yes, a lot of data can go between the box and the sound card, but what the hell? It puts video cables looking like a thin peice of string. How much data can POSSIBLY be needed to send over to this external box? And even then, they have the USB part of it pretty much taped to the outside of this fat cable. So that means only the sound and game ports actually go over this cable. Its a 44 pin cable. You'd think they could learn from other technology such as USB, Firewire, SATA, etc and shrink that bitch down. Well my cable rant is down. I would take a picture of it compared to some other popular cables such as VGA, parellel, serial, coax, etc, but sadly all of our digital (and non digital) cameras are currently on route 70 coming back home from a weekend trip I was unable to go on. Maybe they hav't left yet, either way they never called. Update: Ok, so its now 3:02 PM EST, and they called saying they left not long ago. So my guess was right. |
